Fall Closeup: Tuesday

And now the moment we all have been waiting for: the first post in my summer daily posting season! And without further ado here it is.
With all the major networks announcing their schedules for the fall recently, I thought why not use my summer posts to go into an in depth look at each individual night and their programs. I will give my opinion on which shows will succeed and which will struggle to survive. In case you forgot, here is an hour by hour look into what the programming is like for Tuesday nights. As I have previously stated, I will not include CW shows in these closeups due to me not being as informed on them.
8: The Biggest Loser (NBC) - Glee (FOX) - Last Man Standing (ABC) - NCIS (CBS)
           8:30: Man Up (ABC)
9: The Biggest Loser (NBC) - New Girl (FOX) - Dancing with the Stars Results (ABC) - NCIS: LA (CBS)
           9:30: Raising Hope (FOX)
10: Parenthood (NBC) - Body of Proof (ABC) - Unforgettable (CBS)

An Explanation

I am very sorry to have mislead all of you - my faithful readers. In my last post, published Saturday May 28, I stated
Throughout the summer, every day one post will be published.
So far, I have been untruthful to that statement. Two days have passed and there have been no new posts. Now, to clean up the air a little. I am here to explain to you why this has occurred and why it won't happen again.

What's Happening? - Summer 2011

I bet all of you are wondering how this blog will work for the next few months. Last Wednesday was the end of the 2010-2011 broadcast network television season. With no new episodes for me to review, what will happen to this blog? Well, luckily for all of you I have already created a solution to that problem. Read on for the full details!

'Glee' Review - 2.16-2.22

Throughout the final episodes of Glee's second season, a ton of drama hit the students at McKinley High. The kids learned to express themselves, went to prom, learned surprising secrets, helped one of their own mourn, and they all became songwriters. Here is a recap of the last episodes of Glee to air in its second season.
2.16 Original Song - B+ (91%) - Our beloved glee club decided to write original songs to use for the competition. They had difficulty finding inspiration to write a creative yet appropriate song. I also found the new friendship of Rachel and Quinn to be sweet until Quinn's fury hit which gave Rachel motivation to create a very moving power-ballad. At the other school, Kurt and Blaine admitted that they both have feelings for each other. It was nice to see both the New Directions and the Warblers perform their full sets (2 songs) at the competition. Both groups were amazing but the judges weren't that memorable or funny. In the context of the show, I loved Hell to the No, Candles, Raise Your Glass, Get It Right and Loser Like Me.

'Blue Bloods' Review - 1.18-1.22

Throughout the last third of Blue Bloods' freshman season many things have occurred that changed our beloved characters. Many raw emotions were shown that in my opinion have brought the family closer to each other. Here is a recap of the final episodes of season one of Blue Bloods.
1.18 To Tell the Truth - A- (94%) - This episode was a very fast-paced and emotional hour. Danny was a witness to a murder and in order to stop him from testify the drug dealer had his wife, Linda, kidnapped. Would Danny get to her in time was the main plot of the episode and it was very fitting to see the amount of raw emotion that Danny gave when he finally brought the criminal to justice.

'The Good Wife' Review - 2.17-2.23

During the final arc of The Good Wife's second season, many relationships and dynamics have changed due to many climatic events. The election finally happened which not only affected the Florricks but it affected the firm, Kalinda, Cary and the entire state as well. Here is a recap of the last episodes of this critically-acclaimed drama's season two.
2.17 Ham Sandwich - A- (94%) - This was interesting in that focused mostly on the case which was Lockhart/Gardner represented a drug dealer in his divorce. While that was going on, Kalinda was fretting over her grand jury appearance and had Alicia represent her where they discovered that the States Attorney wasn't going after her but using her as bait to attack the entire firm.

'Private Practice' Review - 4.16-4.22

Throughout the last third of Private Practice's fourth season many things have changed and many characters have been tested with their beliefs. They have experienced a wedding, a breakup, family drama, a relapse, a breach of confidentiality suit, and many ethics-raising medical cases. All of which were handled very well. Here is a recap of the final episodes of season four of Private Practice.
4.16 Love & Lies - B+ (90%) - This episode focused mostly on the medical cases and although they were all interesting I was kind of bored during this episode. I did think that Amelia's case was the best and hoped that there would be more to that story.

'Grey's Anatomy' Review - 7.17-7.22

Throughout the last third of Grey's Anatomy seventh season, many things have occurred that created a lot of drama. We have experienced baby troubles, surprise weddings, several shakeups with relationships, and people working to get further ahead in their careers. Here is a recap of the last third of season seven of Grey's Anatomy.
7.17 This is How We Do It - A- (93%) - This episode laid the groundwork for the majority of the drama throughout the last few episodes. Richard pleaded for Derek to accept Adele into his trial. Derek continued to deny because her scores were not good enough to be placed in the trial. But the good news for Richard was that his diabetes trial got approval. After a day of a baby shower, Arizona took Callie away  for a weekend getaway but they got into accident after Arizona proposed to Callie and left the episode going into a high drama musical.

The CW Schedule for 2011-2012

Today marked the end of upfronts week with The CW being the last network to announce its schedule for the fall. Although earlier I said I would not predict their schedule or analyze it, I thought I had a duty to my loyal readers to at least post their schedule although I don't watch anything on the network. I do respect the network and hope that it too can do well this upcoming season.
Monday
           8: Gossip Girl
           9: Hart of Dixie
Tuesday
           8: 90210
           9: Ringer

CBS Schedule for 2011-2012

Today marked the day that CBS released its schedule for the fall. Just as I predicted earlier, most of its schedule remained with only a few shows being moved. So without further ado, let's delve deep into their schedule.
Sunday: The night remained stable with both The Amazing Race and CSI: Miami returning to their respective slots. Then in a shocking turn of events, the network decided to move The Good Wife to the 9 o'clock hour. I'm pretty sure the show can succeed here but I do have some concerns with it.
           8: The Amazing Race
           9: The Good Wife
           10: CSI: Miami

ABC Schedule for 2011-2012

On this day, the third day in scheduling upfronts week, ABC released its schedule for its fall and midseason programming. As I predicted weeks ago, the network has a schedule that works with only a number of timeslots that didn't have successful programming and new programs will be filling those trouble spots.
Sunday: With the cancellation of Brothers & Sisters and the moving of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, two hours of programming were opened up. They will be filled with the fairytale story, Once Upon A Time, and the 1960s set, Pan Am. I think both will work on Sundays with Pan Am most likely being more successful.
           8: Once Upon A Time
           9: Desperate Housewives
           10: Pan Am

FOX Schedule for 2011-2012

Why hello yet again people! This morning FOX released its schedule for fall and midseason next year and like I did yesterday with NBC's schedule, here is my breakdown of their schedule and how it compared to my prediction.
Sunday: Contrary to what I thought, they did make some changes to their animation night. First The Cleveland Show was moved to earlier in the night while American Dad and Bob's Burgers took over the 10:30 slot. Finally two new comedies are being added to the night. Overall I think the returning shows will do fine but I'm not sure about the new ones.
           7:30: The Cleveland Show
           8: The Simpsons
8:30: Allen Gregory (Fall) / Napoleon Dynamite (Spring)
           9: Family Guy
9:30: American Dad (Fall) / Bob's Burgers (Spring)

NBC Schedule for 2011-2012

This morning NBC released its fall and midseason schedule for the 2011-2012 television year. A few weeks ago I posted my predictions for the scheduling. Now, as promised, I will compare my predictions to what they are planning to do.
Sunday - Like I predicted NBC plans on sticking with football on this night with The Apprentice returning for two hours in the spring. However in the spring they plan on having a new drama on after The Apprentice.
8: Football (Fall) - The Apprentice (Spring)
10: Football (Fall) - The Firm (Spring)

'The Event' Status

Just so all of you know, I have decided to stop making reviews for The Event. The show was good when it started but now has fallen so much both plot and character-wise. When watching the past few episodes I have had a lot to complain about for every storyline.
Also, the chances that the show gets renewed our slim to none. The last episode (airdate 5/9/11) only mustered a 1.1 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic and 3.85 million viewers.
