Apple Orders 10 Episodes of Untitled Comedy Starring Kristen Wiig

In yet another competitive situation with multiple bidding outlets, Apple has handed out a series order to an untitled original comedy series starring Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live). The series is the service's first scripted comedy order.

The series is inspired by Curtis Sittenfeld's upcoming short-story collection You Think It, I'll Say It. All additional details about the plot are being kept under wraps.

Colleen McGuinness created the comedy and will serve as showrunner for the first season. She executive produces with Wiig, Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter. Sittenfeld will be a consulting producer. Hello Sunshine will produce.

The role marks Wiig's return to series regular television following her seven-year run on Saturday Night Live, where she received four Emmy nominations for Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Since then, she shared an Oscar nomination with Annie Mumolo for writing the screenplay of feature film Bridesmaids.
