ABC's 2018-19 Schedule: Friday Comedy Block Revived; 'Roseanne' and 'The Good Doctor' Stay Put

ABC is the third broadcast network this week to present its schedule for the upcoming 2018-19 season. Last year, the network had huge hits in drama (The Good Doctor), comedy (Roseanne) and reality (American Idol). And yet, it still finished in fourth place in the ratings due to a lack of football. Will it be able to change that this season?

ABC's Schedule for the 2018-19 Season:

Absent from the schedule: new seasons of American Idol, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., The Bachelor and For the People as well as new series The Fix, Grand Hotel, Schooled and Whiskey Cavalier.

Even though producer Shonda Rhimes has moved to Netflix, ABC is still branding an entire night with her programming. That will continue for the entire next season as well because the network tentatively plans on having the second season of For the People replace How to Get Away With Murder after it wraps its latest season in March.

Furthermore, it was announced today that the upcoming sixth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. which will only feature 13 episodes will be held until Summer 2019. And yet, the network currently isn't looking at it as the final season of the show. The delay also means the new season won't premiere until after the fourth Avengers movie debuts in movie theaters - and thus it won't have to deal with too many additional consequences from the events of Infinity War.

Trailers for the new shows as well as analysis of this schedule will be posted later today.
