Amazon Gives Series Order to Drama 'The Banker's Wife' Based on Novel

During the streaming service's presentation at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour, Amazon gave a series order to the original drama series The Banker's Wife based on the novel by Cristina Alger. The drama will produce an eight-episode first season.

The drama centers on two women who race for answers when a mysterious plane crash sets them on parallel pursuits of truth. It takes them into the world of global finance, and as they shine a light on offshore accounts meant to be kept hidden, the pair find themselves in the crosshairs of a conspiracy involving money laundering, powerful politicians and a web of terrorists and criminals.

Meredith Stiehm (The Bridge) developed the drama, with Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland) set to direct. They will executive produce with Sherry Marsh, Ashley Stern and Pascal Breton. Amazon Studios, Federation Entertainment and Marsh Entertainment will produce.

"As soon as we read The Banker's Wife, we knew this would be a series that our Amazon Prime Video customers will love, a fast-paced, compelling story that pulls you in immediately," said Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios. "We're thrilled to be working with Meredith and Lesli to bring their vision to the screen."
