Netflix Gives Series Order to Drama 'The Girls on the Bus' from Julie Plec and Greg Berlanti

Following a multiple-outlet bidding war, Netflix has today given a series order to the original drama series The Girls on the Bus created by Julie Plec and executive produced by Greg Berlanti.

Inspired by a chapter in Amy Chozick's novel Chasing Hillary: Ten Years, Two Presidential Campaigns and One Intact Glass Ceiling, the drama will chronicle four female journalists who follow the every move of a parade of flawed presidential candidates, finding friendships, love and a scandal that could take down not just the presidency but our entire democracy along the way.

While inspired by Chasing Hillary, the drama tells a completely fictionalized story with all fictionalized characters instead of trying to depict the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

Plec is writing the series with Chozick. They executive produce with Berlanti and Sarah Schechter. Warner Bros. Television, Berlanti Productions and My So-Called Company produce.
