Greg Berlanti Sets Up Drama 'Green Lantern' and Anthology 'Strange Adventures' at HBO Max

During the forthcoming streaming service's debut presentation today, HBO Max expanded its relationship with mega-producer Greg Berlanti with series orders for the original drama Green Lantern and the original anthology Strange Adventures.

"Both of these original DC properties we'll be creating for HBO Max will be unlike anything seen on television," said Berlanti. "An anthology series of cautionary tales set in a world where superpowers exist, and, in what promises to be our biggest DC show ever made, we will be going to space with a Green Lantern television series, but I can't reveal any more about that just yet."

This is Berlanti's second attempt at a live-action version of Green Lantern. He co-wrote (alongside Michael Green, Marc Guggenheim and Micahel Goldenberg) the screenplay for the critically-panned 2011 film starring Ryan Reynolds in the lead role.

No additional details were immediately released about the new Green Lantern series. Berlanti will executive produce with Sarah Schechter. Warner Bros. Television, DC Entertainment and Berlanti Productions will produce.

Featuring characters across the DC Comics world, the hourlong anthology drama Strange Adventures will explore closed-ended morality tales about the intersecting lives of mortals and superhumans.

Berlanti and Schechter will executive produce with showrunner John Stephens. Charlie Huston will produce, while Selwyn Seyfu Hinds will serve as a consulting producer. Warner Bros. Television, DC Entertainment and Berlanti Productions will produce.
