NBC Renews 'Parenthood,' 30 Rock' & 'Community'; Picks Up 'Do No Harm' & 'Infamous'

Much like the past few days, today NBC announced that they were renewing Parenthood and 30 Rock for another year and giving two series order to new drama pilot: the Jekyll & Hyde-esque medical drama, Do No Harm, and the opulent soap, Infamous. 7:30 PM - New Updates on Community.

As was highly speculated over the past week or so, the renewal of 30 Rock will be for its seventh season which will also be the series last. The final season will consist of only 13 more episodes.

Parenthood is the fourth drama from the network to receive an early renewal (after Grimm, Smash and Law & Order: SVU). The network only ordered 15 episodes for the family drama's fourth season.

The network has also given a 13 episode series order to its Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde drama Do No Harm, which stars Steven Pasquale as a brilliant neurosurgeon who wrestles with his dangerous alter ego that threatens to wreak havoc on his personal and professional life. Phylicia Rashad, Alana De La Garza, Mousa Kraish, Michael Esper and Ruta Gedmintas co-star. The pilot script was written by David Schulner who will executive produce alongside Peter Traugott and Rachel Kaplan.

Joining Do No Harm in drama pilot pickups is Infamous (formerly Notorious) - described as an opulent soap in which a female detective (Meagan Good) returns undercover to the wealthy family in which she grew up, as the maid's daughter, to solve the slaying of the notorious heiress who was once her closest friend. Tate Donovan and Victor Garber co-star. Liz Heldens wrote the script and will executive produce with Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and Gene Stein.

UPDATE 7:30 PM: The cult comedy Community has been picked up for a 13 episode fourth season. That episode order is strange considering that it would place the show at 84 episodes which is four episodes shy of the usual 88 required for striped syndication.

So far, NBC has renewed six series (30 Rock, Community, Grimm, Law and Order: SVU, Parenthood, Smash), picked up six new comedy series (1600 Penn, Animal Practice, Go On, Guys With Kids, The New Normal, Save Me) and ordered five new drama series (Chicago Fire, Do No Harm, Hannibal, Infamous, Revolution).
