TV News - 'Veep,' 'Mockingbird Lane,' 'Parenthood' & 'Elementary'

Tuesday, June 5 - Today's items include the Munsters reboot finally finding a perfect female lead but the choice is riddled with contract issues; Jason Ritter will return to NBC's Parenthood upcoming fourth season; a Good Wife producer joins new drama, Elementary; and many more!

  • Sunday's episode of HBO's Veep posted a 0.6 rating in the 18-49 demo and 1.175 total viewers at 10:11 PM.
  • NBC's upcoming Munsters remake, Mockingbird Lane, has cast Mariana Klaveno to play the female lead, Lily Munster. Klaveno's deal is contingent on whether or not she will be released from the Devious Maids pilot. The pilot was skipped over by ABC for the upcoming season but the series is still being shopped around to other networks (with Lifetime being a huge possible landing spot, right now). Her contract keeps her in first position on Devious Maids until June 30 - unless there's a contract extension. If Devious Maids or its studio refuses to release Klaveno, Mockingbird Lane will have to go back to casting.
  • Chart-topping music stars Katy Perry and Kenny Chesney will perform on NBC's Macy's 4th of July Fireworks Spectacular. The special is set to air on Wednesday, July 4 at 9/8c.
  • It has finally been confirmed that Jason Ritter will return for Parenthood's upcoming fourth season. The recurring guest star's future on the drama was in question when he signed on for a new pilot for NBC - which inevitably was not picked up to series. Ritter will return on a recurring basis. The exact number of appearances is still to be determined.
  • Writer-producer Corinne Brinkerhoff (The Good Wife) has signed a new two year deal with CBS TV Studios. Under this pact, she will join the upcoming CBS drama, Elementary, as a co-executive producer.
