TV News - 'Smash,' 'The Good Wife,' 'Animal Practice,' 'NCIS: Los Angeles,' 'Scandal,' 'Nikita,' 'Men at Work,' 'Zero Hour,' 'The Goodwin Games,' 'New Girl,' 'Bates Motel,' 'The Neighbors' & 'CSI: NY'

        Friday, September 14 - Today's casting updates include new roles and upcoming guest stars on NBC's Smash and Animal Practice; CBS' The Good Wife, CSI: NY and NCIS: LA; ABC's Scandal, The Neighbors and Zero Hour; FOX's The Goodwin Games and New Girl; The CW's Nikita; A&E's Bates Motel; and TBS' Men at Work.


Jesse L. Martin (Rent, Law & Order) will recur on the upcoming second season of NBC's Smash. He will play Scott Welker, an Artistic Director at a theater company who has history with a couple of the main characters and may be a new love interest for Julia (Debra Messing). He will appear in at least six episodes.

The Good Wife scene-stealer Carrie Preston will return to the legal drama's upcoming fourth season for another multiple episode arc. She plays attorney Elsbeth Tascioni.

Annie Potts (Designing Woman, GCB) will play the mother of Justin Kirk's George on NBC's new comedy, Animal Practice. Potts' Virginia is described as snobbish, racist and self-absorbed but has a heart somewhere.

Rachel Ticotin (Total Recall, Law & Order: LA) will play a politician in the election-themed fourth episode of CBS' NCIS: Los Angeles' upcoming season. She will play Monica Tenez, a candidate who everyone would love to vote for.

Tom Amandes (Everwood) will appear in one episode of the second season of ABC's Scandal. He will play Governor Reston, who will appear opposite the already cast Brenda Strong - as his first lady.

Old Spice guy Isaiah Mustafa will guest on the upcoming third season of The CW's Nikita. He will play Cyrus, a charming former Division agent with ambiguous loyalties.

Benjamin McKenzie (Southland) will appear in a 2013 episode of TBS' Men at Work. He will play Bryan, the ex-husband of single mom Meg (One Tree Hill's Bethany Joy Kenz) who has started dating Tyler (Michael Cassidy).

Grace Gummer (Smash) will recur on ABC's new midseason drama Zero Hour. She will play FBI Agent Paige Willis. She will first appear in episode 3.

Adam Rodrigues (CSI: Miami) has landed a recurring role on FOX's midseason comedy, The Goodwin Games. He will play Ivan, a grade school friend of Chloe's (Becki Newton), who happens to be her new college math professor and potential love interest.

Political Animals star Carla Gugino will appear in three episodes of the upcoming second season of FOX's New Girl. She will play Emma, Schmidt's (Max Greenfield) new boss, who is a sex addict. The two of them will embark on a Fifty Shades of Grey-esque relationship. She will first appear in episode 7.

After an extensive search, A&E's upcoming Psycho-prequel series, Bates Motel, has finally found its lead character, Norman Bates. English lad Freddie Highmore (Finding Neverland, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) will tackle the role first played by Anthony Perkins in the movie.

Max Thieriot (Kit Kittredge: An American Girl) has also joined Bates Motel as the newly created older brother of Norman Bates, Dylan. The character is described as a petulant and rebellious, James Dean-type.

Veteran character actor Stacy Keach will appear in the Thanksgiving-themed episode of ABC's new comedy, The Neighbors. He will play the father of Marty Weaver (Lenny Venito). The series is currently casting the role of Weaver's mother.

Ringer's Tara Summers and Lizzie McGuire's Jake Thomas have landed guest roles on an upcoming episode of CBS' CSI: NY. Summers will play Dr. Carly Emerson, a British psychiatrist whose patients mysteriously start dying. Thomas will play Steve, a college student from a wealthy and dysfunctional family.

FOX's New Girl has cast Jess' (Zooey Deschanel) parents! The couple - who will first appear in this year's Thanksgiving episode - will be played by Rob Reiner and Jaime Lee Curtis.
