TV News (1/21/13) - 'True Blood,' 'Revolution' & 'Hawaii Five-0,'

HBO's True Blood has added two new characters for its upcoming sixth season. Jurnee Smollett (Friday Night Lights) joins as the new series regular Nicole Wright, who is not concerned with money and more concerned with the common good and doing what's right. Amelia Rose Blaire (90210) will recur as Willa Burrell, the daughter of Louisiana Governor Truman Burrell (Arliss Howard), who frequently clashes with him over vampire rights.

NBC has decided to debut online animated webisodes for its hit fall drama Revolution during its winter hiatus. The six webisodes will debut every week through Feb. 18 on NBC.com, YouTube, Hulu and on VOD. The webisodes are based on the letters written by Sgt. Joseph Wheatly (Reed Diamond), the character who led the group into that oxygen-depleted tunnel.

NBC is also putting a version of the Revolution pilot online that includes commentary from showrunner Eric Kripke and executive producer/director Jon Favreau. The network also has plans to post the entire first half of the season online Feb. 25, giving viewers extra chances to catch up on the show before it returns on March 25.

Summer Glau (Firefly, Alphas) will guest on a spring episode of CBS' Hawaii Five-0. She will play a woman involved with an underground fighting ring who is also searching for the person who murdered her father.
