The CW Renews 'Nikita' & 'The Carrie Diaries'

Thursday, May 9 - After picking up four new drama series, The CW today also made its decision on its final two bubble series - choosing to renew both Nikita and The Carrie Diaries.

The Maggie Q-fronted Nikita is currently in its third season. Ratings for the series have never been phenomenal but the program does decent business for the network on Friday nights. The show will return for a shortened fourth season with the exact episode currently unclear but most likely between 6 and 10 more episodes.
Similarly, the Sex in the City prequel series The Carrie Diaries starring AnnaSophia Robb did okay but not stellar in its ratings. The second season's episode count is currently set as 13 episodes - with the show likely to return again as a midseason entry.
More information will be announced for both series at The CW's Upfront Presentation next week when it unveils its schedule to advertisers.

UPDATE - Nikita will return for its fourth and final season - consisting of only 6 episodes.
