CBS Renews 'Under the Dome' for Season 2

Monday, July 29 - At the top of its presentation at the TCA summer press tour, CBS announced a second season renewal for Under the Dome, the adaptation of Stephen King's novel of the same name that has dominated the ratings during the summer.

Under the Dome premiered as television's #1 summer series premiere in years with 13.5 million total viewers and a 3.3 rating in the 18-49 demographic. That tally increased to over 20 million viewers and a 4.6 rating once DVR data and non-linear playback were factored in. In its most recent fifth episode, it drew 11.4 million viewers and a 2.7 rating.
The series will return in summer 2014 with 13 new episodes. Additionally, Stephen King will write the premiere episode of the second season.
"We're excited to tell more stories about the mystery of the dome and the secrets of Chester's Mill, and are thrilled to have the master storyteller himself, Stephen King, tell the first one of next season," said CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler.
