FOX Sets Midseason Premiere Dates for 'American Idol,' 'The Following' & 'Rake'

Today, FOX announced its Spring 2014 premiere dates - including the returns for American Idol and The Following as well as boosted launches for Rake and Surviving Jack.






American Idol will launch its 13th season, with new judging lineup Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez and Keith Urban, with two 2-hour episodes on Wednesday, January 15 and Thursday, January 16 at 8/7c.

On Monday, January 20, Sleepy Hollow will conclude its 13-episode first season (already renewed for another 13-hour season) with a special airing at 8/7c. It will be followed by the second season premiere of The Following - which includes new cast additions Connie Nielsen, Leslie Bibb, Carrie Preston and Jessica Stroup.

The network will premiere new legal dramedy series Rake starring Greg Kinnear with a special airing on Sunday, January 19 after the NFC Championship game. It will move to its regular Thursdays at 9 time slot on January 23.

Later in the spring, FOX has announced its plans to trim the American Idol results show to 30 minutes and slotting the Christopher Meloni-led comedy Surviving Jack afterwards.

A new pair of Animation Domination High-Def series - Lucas Bros. Moving Co. and Golan the Insatiable - will premiere on Saturday, January 11 at 11/10c. Both series offer sneak preview episodes on Saturday, November 23.


The network is expected to premiere new drama Gang Related and miniseries 24: Live Another Day at the end of the spring, with "May 2014" still being the only tentative announcement.
