TV News - 'True Detective,' 'Girls' & 'Looking' Get Premiere Dates; Kerry Washington Heads to 'Saturday Night Live; Plus 6 More Updates!

HBO has set its winter Sunday lineup. On Sunday, January 12, the network will debut new drama series True Detective starring Woody Harrelson, Matthew McConaughey and Michelle Monaghan at 9/8c. followed by the third season return of Lena Dunham's Girls with two back-to-back episodes at 10/9c. Then on January 19, new comedy Looking starring Jonathan Groff, Frankie J. Alvarez and Murray Bartlett will debut at 10:30/9:30c.

Nick Gehlfuss (The Newsroom) and Emily Bergl (Southland) have joined the fourth season of Showtime's Shameless. Gehlfuss will play Robbie, the sexy, dangerous and artistic older brother of Fiona's (Emmy Rossum) new boyfriend Mike (Jake McDorman). Bergl will Sammy, a young trainwreck of a woman who is attracted to Frank (William H. Macy).

Kerry Washington - the Emmy-nominated star of ABC's Scandal - will make her debut as a Saturday Night Live host when she emcees the November 2 episode of the long-running live sketch comedy. Joining her as musical guest is Eminem.

Community star Yvette Nicole Brown will guest star on an upcoming episode of NBC's Welcome to the Family. She will play Mrs. Peck, the Yoder family's annoyingly overbearing and strong next-door neighbor. Constantly bickering with Dan (Mike O'Malley) about everything going on at the Yoder house, she is well-versed in local laws and city ordinances.

David Hoflin (Alcatraz) and Yasmine Al Massri have joined the cast of NBC's midseason drama series Crossbones starring John Malkovich. Hoflin will play Vane, a pirate captain known for being a vicious, villainous and murderous predator of a man. Al Massri will play Selma, a poised and elegant Arabian woman who is Blackbeard's (Malkovich) one confidant.

Joel David Moore (Avatar) and Nora Kirkpatrick (The Office) will co-star on the TV Land comedy pilot Jennifer Falls starring Jaime Pressly & Jessica Walter. Moore will play Jennifer's (Pressly) brother who had lived in her shadow, and now she works for him in his bar. Kirkpatrick will play Jennifer's sister-in-law, the only straight woman on her woman's softball team and Jennifer's oldest friend from the neighborhood.

Martin Donovan (Weeds, Boss) will recur on the second season of NBC's Hannibal. He will pop up early in the season as Jack Crawford's (Laurence Fishburne) therapist.

Alec Mapa (Ugly Betty) has landed a recurring role on ABC Family's Switched at Birth. He will play Renzo, a new friend that Kathryn (Lea Thompson) meets in a tap dancing class. Neither are any good but they become fast friends and improve over time.
