Yesterday, ABC made its decisions on the fates on its current crop of new comedy series. The Goldbergs, Trophy Wife and Super Fun Night have been ordered for additional episodes while Back in the Game will end after airing all 13 episodes of its initial order.
According to ABC, Tuesday duo The Goldbergs and Trophy Wife have both received full back-nine orders - bringing their episode totals to 22 episodes this season. Super Fun Night, on the other hand, only received an order for 4 more episodes - bringing its season to 17 episodes total.
The decision on those three comes after a week where they all were forced to stand without their high-profile lead-ins.
On Tuesday, October 29, The Goldbergs and Trophy Wife aired without a new hour of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ahead of them. The Goldbergs came up dead flat in the key Adults 18-49 demo with a 1.7 rating while Trophy Wife actually rose to a 1.4 rating, up two tenths from the prior week.
On Wednesday, October 30, Super Fun Night aired after a repeat of Modern Family and did not hold up as well. It dropped to a 1.7 rating - down four tenths from the prior week.
But the good news did not extend to fellow Wednesday comedy Back in the Game. ABC will air every episode of its 13 episode order but has opted not to pick it up for any more episodes. It too posted a 1.7 rating this past week - but ultimately ABC must have more faith in the potential of the other three.
