TV News - Ellen Pompeo & Patrick Dempsey Renew 'Grey's Anatomy' Contracts; 'Friday Night Lights' Reunion on 'About a Boy'; Plus 18 More Updates!

NBC's SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE
  • The late night sketch comedy series has named Seth Meyers' successor behind the Weekend Update desk - head writer Colin Jost. He will join Cecily Strong as co-anchor beginning with the March 1 episode. Jost joined the SNL writing staff in 2015 and was named head writer in 2012. He has written for recurring characters Drunk Uncle, The Girl You Wish You Hadn't Started a Conversation With at a Party and Second-Hand news correspondent Anthony Crispino.
ABC's GREY'S ANATOMY
  • Leading couple Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey have signed new two-year contracts to continue on the ABC medical drama through Seasons 11 and 12. The series has not been formally renewed for another season by the network - but it is still one of their strongest performers. Contracts for fellow cast members Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens Jr. and Sara Ramirez are also up at the end of the current season - with no new details on whether or not they will renew.
CBS' THE CRAZY ONES
  • The CBS comedy is reuniting star Robin Williams with his Mork & Mindy co-star Pam Dawber when she guest stars in a spring episode. She will play Lily, an author of travel memoirs who catches Simon's (Williams) eye.
HBO's PEOPLE IN NEW JERSEY (PILOT)
  • HBO has decided not to go forward with this single camera comedy pilot written by Bruce Eric Kaplan, directed by Paul Feig and executive produced by Lorne Michaels. The project was described as a poignant look at life today as seen through the prism of an adult brother and sister (Topher Grace, Sarah Silverman) living in New Jersey. Patti Lupone also starred in the pilot.
HBO's UNTITLED DIALLO RIDDLE & BASHIR SALAHUDDIN PROJECT (PILOT)
  • HBO has also passed on this single camera comedy pilot written by former Late Night with Jimmy Fallon writers/performers Diallo Riddle & Bashir Salahuddin and also executive produced by Lorne Michaels. However, the network has also ordered a redeveloped script with a production commitment on a new pilot. The project starred the writing duo as two 30-year-old reporters trying to make it in contemporary Atlanta. The original pilot also starred Dorian Missick, Tasie Lawrence, Barry Shabaka Heneley and Siena Goines - none of whom are expected to reprise their roles in the new pilot.
SYFY's LOST GIRL, BEING HUMAN & BITTEN
  • Starting on Monday, January 27, Syfy will swap the time slots of these two drama series - meaning new episodes of Bitten will air at 8/7c. while new episodes of Lost Girl will now air at 10/9c. The 9/8c. anchor Being Human will remain as is.
HBO's TRUE DETECTIVEGIRLS & LOOKING
  • The next new episodes of the comedy series will debut in their regular time slots on Sunday, January 26 with a new episode of True Detective starting at 9/8c. The following week, there will be a one-time-only change to the schedule. True Detective will take a hiatus for the week while new episodes of Girls & Looking will debut one day earlier than usual on Saturday, February 1 at 10/9c.. Both new episodes can also be seen the next day in their usual time slots. Additionally, those Saturday episodes will be available on HBO On Demand and HBO GO starting on Monday, January 27.
CBS' CSI
  • Ron Glass (Barney Miller, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) will appear in an upcoming episode of the procedural that will delve into the childhood past of Greg (Eric Szmanda). Glass will play Greg's old chess mentor. The two will reunite when a murder at a chess tournament brings them back into each other's orbits.
ABC's REVENGE
  • Newcomer Henri Esteve has landed a recurring role on the soapy drama after auditioning in one of ABC Casting Project's Talent Showcases. He will play Javier, an accomplished hacker who begins to live with Nolan under house arrest. The two met during Nolan's stint behind bars. Plus, he may soon start romancing Charlotte (Christa B. Allen). 
NBC's ABOUT A BOY
  • Creator Jason Katims is once again calling on one of his former Friday Night Lights co-stars to appear on his new series. Adrienne Palicki - who appeared in more than 50 episodes of the late NBC drama - will recur on the new comedy as Dr. Samantha Lake, a love interest for Will (David Walton). She will appear in at least seven episodes.
FOX's GRACEPOINT
  • Lucky 7 vet Stephen Louis Grush has joined FOX's Broadchurch adaptation as a series regular. He will play Vince Novik, Mark's (Michael Peña) best friend and hard-working plumbing apprentice. He is loyal to Mark but also unhappy that he hasn't yet gotten a promised rise - which could help with his mounting debt and a sick mother to look after.
CBS' THE MILLERS
  • Will Arnett will reunite with his Arrested Development co-star Jeffrey Tambor on an upcoming episode of the CBS comedy. In the episode, Nathan (Arnett) and Ray (J.B. Smoove) pitch a Saturday morning children's program to their station owner (Tambor). The pitched show will be based on the imagination of Tom (Beau Bridges).
TNT's MURDER IN THE FIRST
  • Nicole Ari Parker (Revolution, Soul Food) has joined the cast of the new TNT drama as a new series regular. She will play Sonia Perez, a brilliant and tough district attorney whose career hedges on a high-profile murder case.
NBC's GRIMM
  • Being Human star Sam Witwer is heading to the NBC supernatural series for an upcoming episode. He will play Maximillian, who works at a carnival and with each performance gets closer to sacrificing the last of his humanity.
  • Additionally, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio is finally returning to the drama for multiple episodes this spring. She plays Kelly Burkhardt, Nick's (David Guintoli) mom - last seen in the second episode of the second season.
LIFETIME's DEVIOUS MAIDS
  • Tricia O'Kelley (The New Adventures of Old Christine) has been cast in a major season-long recurring role on the drama's second season. She will play Tanya - who is cryptically just described as "a local Beverly Hills resident."
ABC's THE NEIGHBORS
  • Joshua Sasse - who previously was cast in the lead role on The Neighbors creator Dan Fogelman's ABC comedy pilot Galavant - will appear on the alien comedy in a big recurring role. He will play Larry's (Simon Templeman) brother. The two are rivals as everyone loves him and he is sent down to earth to clean up Larry's mess. 
CBS' HAWAII FIVE-0
  • Rob Corddry (Children's Hospital) will appear on an upcoming episode - the one in which the plot and details were voted on by fans late last year. He will play Tony, a professional magician and former high school classmate of Chin's (Daniel Dae Kim) with a long rap sheet.
NBC's THE PRO (PILOT)
  • NBC has handed out a pilot order to this single-camera comedy starring and executive produced by Rob Lowe. Comedy veterans Pete Huyck and Alex Gregory will write the pilot and serve as showrunners, with Todd Holland set to direct. The project is co-produced by ABC Studios and Universal Television. Karey Burke and Marc Gurvitz also will serve as executive producers. The Pro is set in and around a tennis and golf club and follows a former doubles champion (Lowe) who is reunited with his ex-partner after a public feud left them both floundering in life.
NBC's LIFESAVER (PILOT)
  • NBC has also ordered to pilot this multi-camera comedy from writer Wil Calhoun. It is an odd couple comedy in which two polar opposites become inextricably linked after one saves the other's life. Calhour, Peter Traugott and Rachel Kaplan will executive produce for Universal Television and TBD Entertainment.
