TV News - Laurie Metcalf Joins CBS Family Comedy Pilot; 'Grey's Anatomy's Sandra Oh Guests on 'Betas'; Plus 2 More Updates!

Additional Updates for:
CBS' The Good Wife and FOX's Untitled Fey-Hubbard-Carlock Comedy.

Laurie Metcalf (The Big Bang Theory) has joined the new pilot for CBS' half-hour project The McCarthys. She will play Marjorie McCarthy, the clan's loving mother who has no filter and loves having her gay son keep her company when her husband (Jack McGee) and other kids are off coaching basketball games. The role was played by Jacki Weaver in the original pilot. Metcalf's casting is formally in second position to HBO's Getting On - which just wrapped its six-episode first season and is looking unlikely to continue.

The January 12 episode of CBS' The Good Wife will exclusively feature three songs from Bruce Springsteen's new full-length album, High Hopes.

Grey's Anatomy star Sandra Oh guest stars on the newest original episode of Amazon's Betas - entitled "Steppin' Out." She appears as the mother of Mikki (Maya Erskine), a very flaky parent.

Bonnie Dennison (Third Watch, Guiding Light) is the first actor cast on FOX's straight-to-series comedy project from Matt Hubbard, Tina Fey and Robert Carlock. She will play Thena, a pretty but uptight sophomore, hard core feminist and leader of the sizable population of Cabot College that does not want men on campus. However, her militance makes a vulnerable and romantic side that pops up in unexpected ways.
