Casting News - March 1, 2014

CBS' Battle Creek; NBC's Tooken; and TNT's Legends.

CBS' BATTLE CREEK
  • Dean Winters (Law & Order: SVU, Oz) has landed one of the two lead roles on the drama series from Vince Gilligan & David Shore. He will play Russ Agnew, a smart, tough, impatient and pragmatic detective who gets results but whom no one wants to partner with because he prefers to cut through any nonsense, and this has earned him a reputation for being mean and gruff.
  • Also joining the cast of the upcoming series are Aubrey Dollar and Edward Fordham, Jr. Dollar will play Holly, the office manager who shares mutual attraction with Russ. Fordham will play Aaron Funkhauser, a chubby detective.
TNT's LEGENDS
  • In a bit of recasting, Mason Cook has joined the cast of the upcoming drama series as a series regular - replacing Lux Haney Jardine - in the role of Aiden Odum, the son of Sean Bean's leading man.
NBC's TOOKEN
  • 30 Rock recurring player Tituss Burgess is reuniting with creators Tina Fey and Robert Carlock on their new comedy series starring Ellie Kemper. He will play Burgess, a gay, larger-than-life, genuinely talented African American singer who has never made it to Broadway and lives hand-to-mouth, working as a robot in Times Square. His relationship with Kimmy (Kemper) will re-energize him.
