Casting News - March 26, 2014

ABC's Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.; BBC America's In the Flesh; El Rey's Matador; HBO's True Detective; NBC's The Blacklist; and USA's Covert Affairs.

EL REY's MATADOR
  • Jonny Cruz (Cool Wheels) and Dylan Bruce (Orphan Black) have landed recurring roles on the upcoming drama series. Cruz will play Ricky Bravo, Tony's (Gabriel Luna) younger brother who's currently in prison. Bruce will play Gabriel, a Lothario-type DEA Agent.
HBO's TRUE DETECTIVE
  • One of the biggest questions of this year's Emmy races has been whether the acclaimed drama series will submit as a drama or as a miniseries. It's anthology format means it could enter either race - similar to FX's American Horror Story franchise. The network has opted to have the series compete as a drama series - meaning it will likely go up against the final season of Breaking Bad and much stronger competition in every category.
USA's COVERT AFFAIRS
  • Entourage alum Perrey Reeves has been cast in a recurring role on the drama's upcoming fifth season. She will play Caitlyn, the COO at McQuaid Security. She is smart, confident and not afraid to speak her mind. The company is still a boy's club, but she's worked hard to get where she is today and knows how to command a room.
NBC's THE BLACKLIST
  • Current Vikings regular Linus Roache is heading to the drama for one of the season's final episodes. He will play the Kingmaker, an extremely dangerous and influential man with political ties around the world who manipulates democracy to his own ends and is an expert at political assassination.
ABC's MARVEL'S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D.
  • Whedonverse alum Amy Acker (Dollhouse, Angel) will guest star on an upcoming episode of the drama. She will appear in the April 22 as Audrey, the cellist Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) was dating at the time of his "death."
BBC AMERICA's IN THE FLESH
  • BBC America will launch the 6-episode second season of the drama series on Saturday, May 10 at 10/9c.
