Development News - March 10, 2014

ABC's Forever & How to Get Away with Murder; CBS' Good Session; The CW's Identity; FOX's Empire; NBC's Coercion; TBS' Your Family or Mine; and TNT's Proof.

TNT's PROOF
  • Jennifer Beals (The L Word, The Chicago Code) is set to topline the drama pilot from writer Rob Bragin. She will play Dr. Kathryn Russo, a skeptical, hard-science, brilliant female surgeon with a caustic edge who has been struggling with the devastating loss of her teenage son and a growing estrangement from her surviving daughter. She is persuaded to investigate cases of reincarnation, out-of-body experiences, hauntings - all of it looking for verifiable proof to answer one of life's greatest questions: Is death truly the end, or is there something else beyond?
ABC's FOREVER
  • Law & Order alum Alana de la Garza has booked the female lead opposite Ioan Gruffudd on the drama pilot. She will play Jo Martinez, a recently widowed detective who Henry (Gruffudd) works closely with on cases who is also a recovering alcoholic.
THE CW's IDENTITY
  • Mehcad Brooks (Necessary Roughness) has joined the cast of the drama pilot starring Ahna O'Reilly. He will play Brennan, a driven, unorthodox CIA agent who finds himself with a perfectly positioned, but very green, new asset in Mia (O'Reilly).
CBS' GOOD SESSION
  • With Psych wrapping its eight-season run, star James Roday has signed on to his next project - the male lead on the CBS single-camera comedy pilot. He will play Joel, a dedicated middle-school guidance counselor who thinks his marriage to Lindsay, a jet-setting executive, is a happy one - but when they disagree about whether the time is right to start a family, they begin the painful, funny,  embarrassing and rewarding role of couples counseling.
FOX's EMPIRE
  • Gabourey Sidibe is set as recurring on the drama pilot starring Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson. She will play Becky, Lucious' (Howard) hard-working assistant. Her casting reunites her with director Lee Daniels, who directed her in Precious.
  • Trai Byers and Grace Gealey have also joined the pilot today as series regulars. Byers will play Andre, Lucious' oldest son, a tall, brilliant and compelling individual with a dark side. Gealey will play Anika, the head of A&E for Empire Entertainment and Lucious' current girlfriend.
TBS' YOUR FAMILY OR MINE
  • Andrew Lees is the first actor to be cast on the multi-camera comedy pilot from writer Greg Malins. He will play Blake, the very good looking younger brother.
ABC's HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER
  • Tom Verica (American Dreams) has joined the cast of the drama pilot starring Viola Davis. He will play Tom, Annalise's (Davis) husband, a psychology professor who comes from a long line of academic royalty.
NBC's COERCION
