Casting News - Regina King Books 'American Crime,' 'The Big Bang Theory' & 'Scandal' Gigs; Plus 10 More Updates!

Casting News - July 23, 2014

ABC's American Crime, ResurrectionScandal, Secrets & Lies & The Whispers; CBS' The Big Bang Theory, CSI: Cyber & Stalker; FOX's The Mindy Project; HBO's Girls; Lifetime's Witches of East End; and NBC's Aquarius.



ABC's AMERICAN CRIME
  • Regina King - currently recurring on FX's The Strain - has booked a major season-long arc on the midseason drama starring Timothy Hutton and Felicity Huffman. She will play the devoutly religious sister of Carter (Elvis Nolasco) who comes to Modesto in order to help her brother navigate a judicial system that she believes is stacked against him.
CBS' THE BIG BANG THEORY
  • Regina King - who's appeared on several episodes of the hit comedy - will also reprise her role as the university's director of human resources for one episode set to air in the fall.
ABC's SCANDAL
  • Regina King - also of the late Southland - has lastly signed on to direct an upcoming episode of the political drama's fourth season. She will helm the 16th episode of the season - after she's done filming her arc on American Crime.
  • Also joining the fourth season of the hit drama is Arrested Development star Portia de Rossi in a major top-secret role. Speculate away!
CBS' STALKER
  • Elisabeth Rohm (Law & Order) has joined the cast of the new drama series as a series regular. She will play Amanda, a Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney who works with the Threat Assessment Unit and a mother to a 10-year-old boy, whose attempt at a new life in a new city is suddenly derailed when she discovers her - in the form of Jack (Dylan McDermott) - has followed her cross-country. 
LIFETIME's WITCHES OF EAST END
  • Sarah Lancaster (Chuck) will recur later on in the second season of the supernatural drama. She will play Raven Moreau, a smart, confident and in control woman who arrives in East End as part of a secret mission - but she also quickly develops a connection with Dash (Eric Winter).
FOX's THE MINDY PROJECT
  • Emmy winner Rhea Perlman (Cheers) has booked a major role on the comedy's upcoming third season. Debuting in the third episode, she will Annette Castellano, Danny's (Chris Messina) mother who doesn't exactly approve of his new relationship with Mindy (Mindy Kaling).
HBO's GIRLS
  • Maude Apatow - daughter of executive producer Judd Apatow - will make her small-screen debut on an episode of the comedy's fourth season. She will play a character named Cleo, who could potentially appear in several more episodes.
CBS' CSI: CYBER
  • Frequent Community guest Charley Koontz has landed a series regular role on the midseason drama starring Patricia Arquette. He will play Agent Daniel Grummitz, a social introvert and a tech genius with a quick wit and self-deprecating honesty. Workaholic by day and night, Grumitz rarely, if ever, goes home. Indeed, he spends countless hours cracking cyber cases while on the clock. Off the clock, he practices penetration tests on Conficker clones.
ABC's RESURRECTION
  • Michelle Fairley (Game of Thrones, 24: Live Another Day) has booked a season-long recurring role on the drama's second season. She will play Margaret Langston, Henry (Kurtwood Smith) and Fred's (Matt Craven) mother who has been dead for more than three decades. She'll return to the town and bring with her knowledge of the Langston family's dark past, a past she is determined to keep hidden.
ABC's THE WHISPERS
  • David Andrews (Crisis, Justified) will recur in at least six episodes of the midseason drama's first season. He will play U.S. Secretary of Defense Frommer, who is always in control, calmly authoritative, steely and uncompromising. He meets with Wes (Barry Sloane) regarding Captain Bennigan's possible survival after the plane crash - confirming that he working secret ops.
ABC's SECRETS & LIES
  • Being Human star Meaghan Rath has been tapped for a recurring role on the midseason drama starring Ryan Phillippe. She will play Nicole, the younger but more mature sister of Jess (Natalie Martinez).
NBC's AQUARIUS
  • Chance Kelly (Generation Kill, Legends) has been cast as recurring on the the upcoming event series starring David Duchovny. He will play Officer Ed Cutler who works alongside Hodiak (Duchovny) at the LAPD.
