ABC has announced today that it has renewed summer drama Mistresses for a 13-episode third season. New episodes will likely debut Summer 2015.
Based on the British series of the same name which only ran six episodes, Mistresses follows a group of four female friends and their often chaotic personal lives and relationships.
The cast includes Alyssa Milano, Rochelle Aytes, Yunjin Kim, Jes Macallan, Jason George and Brett Tucker. K.J. Steinberg developed the drama and also serves as co-showrunner with Rina Mimoun. ABC Studios produces the series.
The second season averaged 3.7 million total viewers (in Live+Same Day ratings), down slightly from the first season. The series has low-production costs and does well in ABC's plans to keep the lights on during the summer months.
