Casting News - Courtney Love to Recur on 'Empire'; Kelly McCreary Upped to Regular on 'Grey's Anatomy'; Plus 6 More Updates!

ABC's Grey's Anatomy; FOX's Empire & Red Band Society; FX's The Americans; HBO's Crime & Silicon Valley; Showtime's House of Lies; and WE tv's South of Hell.




HBO's CRIME
  • Michael Kenneth Williams, Amara Karan, Jeannie Berlin and Glenne Headly have joined the cast of the upcoming miniseries (formerly Criminal Justice) starring John Turturro. Williams will play Freddy, the head of a New York gang, controlling his nexus of power within the walls of Rikers Island. Karan will play Chandra, a young attorney involved in attempting to prove Nasir Khan's (Riz Ahmed) innocence. Berlin will play Helen, a New York DA's Office lifer assigned to prosecute the case against Nasir. Headly will play Alison, a successful attorney specializing in high profile cases, who comes on board to defend Nasir.
FX's THE AMERICANS
  • Karen Pittman (Disgraced) has been tapped for a recurring role on the drama's upcoming third season. She will play Lisa, a struggling mother and recovering alcoholic who works on the assembly line of a highly classified Defense Department project and just became the sponsor to newly sober Michele - who happens to be Elizabeth (Keri Russell) who wants information on Lisa's classified project.
ABC's GREY'S ANATOMY
  • Kelly McCreary has officially been promoted to series regular status on the veteran drama's current eleventh season. Already a major addition this season, she plays Dr. Maggie Pierce, Meredith's (Ellen Pompeo) new half-sister, the daughter of Ellis Grey (Kate Burton) and Richard Webber (James Pickens, Jr.).
WE TV's SOUTH OF HELL
  • Bill Irwin, Drew Moerlein, Lamman Rucker, Paulina Singer, Slate Holmgren and Lauren Velez have joined the cast of the upcoming drama. Irwin will play Enos Abascal, Maria (Mena Suvari) and David's (Zachary Booth) father and the leader of a devil worship cult called the Order of Everlasting. Moerlein will play Dusty, Maria's handsome, ex-military neighbor and the local handyman. Rucker will play Reverend Elijah Bledsoe, a priest with a strong attraction to and interest in Maria. Singer will play Grace, Elijah's bi-racial daughter who has experienced extraordinary emotional trauma. Holmgren will play Sweetmouth, a major drug dealer in the area. Velez will play Tetra, Maria and David's spiritual informant who points them in the direction of the demonically possessed.
FOX's RED BAND SOCIETY
  • John Allen Nelson (Privileged) has booked a recurring role on the drama's first season. He will play Jon, Emma's (Ciara Bravo) father, a compassionate, loving and reserved man who puts on a strong face but struggles with how to talk to Emma about her disease and winds up tiptoeing around the issue.
SHOWTIME's HOUSE OF LIES
  • Mary McCormack (In Plain Sight) and Alicia Witt (Justified) will appear on the dramedy's upcoming fourth season. McCormack will play Denna Altshuler, a tough and highly successful investor who Marty (Don Cheadle) brings in to help rescue the business. Witt will play a whip-smart engineer who helps Marty out of a bind.
HBO's SILICON VALLEY
  • Hung alum Rebecca Creskoff has been cast as a new series regular on the upcoming second season of the hit comedy. She will play Laurie Bream, a new executive at the company.
FOX's EMPIRE
  • Courtney Love (Sons of Anarchy) has landed a recurring role on the upcoming midseason drama. She will play Elle Dallas, a hard rocker and a core part of the record label's stable collection of signed musicians.
