Development News - 'The Middle's Charlie McDermott Books Lead Role on CBS' 'Super Clyde'; Plus 8 More Updates!

Development News - February 14, 2015

ABC's Chev and Bev & Flesh and Blood; CBS' Super Clyde; FOX's DeTour & Minority Report; HBO's Untitled Silverman/Prebble; and NBC's Chicago Med, Love Is a Four Letter Word & Warrior.

NBC's WARRIOR
  • Natalie Martinez (Under the Dome, Secrets & Lies) has landed the lead role on the drama pilot. Also cast on the project are Lance Gross and Andy Allo. Martinez will play Kai Forrester, a damaged heroine who works undercover with physical and spiritual guidance from a mysterious martial arts master to bring down the international crime syndicate YOMI. Gross will play Agent Golden, an Interpol agent and former Navy SEAL who gives Kai the news that she is their best shot at getting an agent inside the triad. Allo will play the daughter of YOMI's New York boss.
FOX's MINORITY REPORT
  • Daniel London will reprise his role from the feature film on the project's series adaptation. Additionally, Li Jun Li has been cast on the pilot today. London plays Wally, the gawky caretaker at the Precrime Temple where the children were observed. A decade later, he is eager to help Vega assist Dash in establishing a new identity. Li will play Akeela, a CSI technician who works closely with Vega.
NBC's CHICAGO MED
  • Law & Order alum S. Epatha Merkerson is returning to the Dick Wolf-universe with a starring role on the proposed spinoff of Chicago Fire. She will play Sharon Goodwin, the head of the hospital. Although she doesn't love the politics that go into running a hospital and doesn't suffer fools, she is damn good at keeping the doors open.
NBC's LOVE IS A FOUR LETTER WORD
  • Nadine Velazquez (My Name is Earl, Major Crimes) has been cast on the drama pilot written by Diana Son. She will play Rebecca, a Cuban American who is deeply in love with Julie and very happy with their marriage, but doesn't realize her wife is actively considering getting back together with her ex, Nick.
ABC's FLESH AND BLOOD
  • Days after his USA drama pilot Stanistan was passed on, Friday Night Lights alum Zach Gilford has boarded the drama pilot written by Jenna Bans. He will play the self-destructive older brother of Adam Warren, a politician's son who returns home after being presumed dead for 10 years.
ABC's CHEV & BEV
  • Ed Oxenbould (Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day) has been cast on the comedy pilot starring Chevy Chase & Beverly D'Angelo. He will play the oldest of the three grandchildren, a nerdy and handsome amateur magician.
HBO's UNTITLED SARAH SILVERMAN & LUCY PREBBLE PROJECT
  • Charlie McDowell (The One I Love) will make his TV directorial debut with the untitled comedy pilot written by Lucy Prebble and starring Sarah Silverman.
FOX's DETOUR
  • The Wedding Ringer director/co-writer Jeremy Garelick will also make his TV directing debut for the comedy pilot written by Steve Franks.
CBS' SUPER CLYDE
  • The Middle co-star Charlie McDermott has been cast in the lead role on the comedy pilot written by Greg Garcia. It's uncertain if his casting is in first or second position because his series regular contract with The Middle is up at the end of the current sixth season and ABC hasn't renewed it yet for a seventh (although it's seen as a reliable bet). On the pilot, he will play a meek, unassuming fast-food worker who suddenly finds his calling.
