ABC Cancels 'Revenge' After 4 Seasons

This afternoon news broke that ABC has opted to end primetime soap opera Revenge after a four season run. The upcoming finale, slated to air Sunday, May 10 at 10/9c., will serve as the end of the story.

"We can officially tell our fans that this will be the end of the story," said showrunner Sunil Nayar to EW.com, which broke the cancellation news. "We've been talking to the network and we all just wantd to make sure that we felt very confident. Now that everybody has seen the finale - which is fabulous - everybody understands that as much as we all adore the show, it has hit exactly the mark it needed to to end. This is the series finale of Revenge that will be airing in a couple weeks."

Revenge began in 2011 as a ratings success on Wednesday nights, before falling off both critically and commercially in subsequent seasons which saw a move to Sunday nights. The most recent episode (on April 26) was seen by 4.45 million viewers and posted a 1.0 rating in the key Adults 18-49 demographic.
