Casting News - Nina Dobrev to Exit 'The Vampire Diaries'; Chris Cooper & Cherry Jones Join '11/22/63'; Plus 4 More Updates!

ABC's Castle; The CW's The Vampire Diaries; FOX's New Girl; Hulu's 11/22/63; NBC's Law & Order: SVU; and WGN America's Underground.





WGN AMERICA's UNDERGROUND
  • Devon Gummersall (My So-Called Life) and Mykelti Williamson (Justified) have joined the cast of the upcoming drama series. Gummersall will play John Hawkes, a lawyer and abolitionist who is trying to reconcile the way things are with the way things should be. Williamson will play Moses, a fiery preacher for the slaves on the plantation who decides to take his family on the run.
THE CW's THE VAMPIRE DIARIES
  • Star Nina Dobrev has announced that she will be departing the veteran drama series at the end of its current sixth season. She has played main protagonist Elena Gilbert since the pilot. The series has already been renewed for a seventh season, with the drama's focus moving towards the Salvatore brothers - Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder).
HULU's 11/22/63
  • Chris Cooper, Daniel Webber, Cherry Jones, George MacKay, Lucy Fry, Leon Rippy and Sarah Gadon will round out the main cast of the upcoming event series starring James Franco. Cooper will play Al Templeton, the irascible owner of Al's diner and a mentor and friend to Jake (Franco). Webber will play Lee Harvey Oswald, one of the most discussed figures in American history and an enigma even to himself. Jones will play Marguerite Oswald, Lee's mother who is just as needy and difficult as her infamous son. MacKay will play Bill Turcotte, a young, guileless bartender from 1960s Kentucky who becomes Jake's ally. Fry will play Marina Oswald, Lee's wife who is challenged to make her way in a foreign country with an unpredictable husband. Rippy will play Harry Dunning, a kind, soft-spoken and damaged janitor at Jake's school in 2015 whose traumatic early life has a surprising impact on Jake. Gadon will play Sadie Dunhill, a sharp librarian in 1960s Texas who falls in love with Jake but is unaware of his double life.
NBC's LAW & ORDER: SVU
  • House alum Robert Sean Leonard will guest star in a May episode of the drama's sixteenth season. He will play ADA Kenneth O'Dwyer, who once sent a man to jail for raping his daughter. But now, the daughter has recanted her testimony and O'Dwyer must defend his verdict when the case has a retrial.
ABC's CASTLE
  • Jaleel White (Family Matters) will appear on an upcoming episode of the drama, titled "Dead From New York." He will play Mickey Franks, the larger-than-life star of a sketch comedy series who has a tendency for outrageous and possibly homicidal behavior.
FOX's NEW GIRL
  • Fred Armisen, Stephen Rannazzisi and Ally Maki will guest star on comedy's upcoming fifth season. Armisen will play a boarder when Nick (Jake Johnson) and Schmidt (Max Greenfield) turn the loft into an Airbnb. Rannazzisi will play an old college frenemy of Schmidt and Nick's. Maki will play a girl who has rented Nick's room as part of the guys' moneymaking scheme.
