Netflix Gives Series Orders to Drama 'Montauk' & Sketch Comedy 'With Bob and David'

Netflix has given series orders to Montauk, a 1980s-set period drama written and directed by young genre filmmakers Matt and Ross Duffer, and With Bob and David, a sketch comedy created by and starring Bob Odenkirk and David Cross.

Described as a love letter to the '80s classics that captivated a generation, Montauk is set in 1980 Montauk, Long Island, where a young vanishes into thin air. As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl.

In addition to writing and directing, the Duffer brothers will also serve as executive producers alongside Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen. The first season will include eight episodes and debut on the streaming service in 2016

"Matt and Ross are emerging filmmakers with an unmistakable passion for genre and suspense," said Cindy Holland, Vice President of Original Content, Netflix. "Their unique voice infuses this coming-of-age drama with supernatural thrills that will captivate our global audience."

With Bob and David will air for 4 half-hour episodes and one 60-minute "making of" special. After being dishonorably discharged from the Navy Seals, Bob and David are back serving our country the way they do best, making sketch comedy. The episodes will feature all new characters, all new scenes and, most importantly, all new wigs.

Odenkirk and Cross will write and star in the series, and also serve as executive producers along with Marc Provissiero, Naomi Odenkirk, Tim Sarkes, Dave Kneebone, Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim. The first season will also debut in 2016.

Both Montauk and With Bob and David are original Netflix productions.
