Netflix Renews 'Daredevil' for Season 2

Eleven days after the first season debuted on the streaming service, Netflix has renewed superhero drama Daredevil for a second season.

Blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, Matt Murdock (Cox) fights against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell's Kitchen.

The drama also stars Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Toby Leonard Moore, Bob Gunton, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Ayelet Zurer, Rosario Dawson and Vincent D'Onofrio.

The second season of the drama starring Charlie Cox will debut in 2016, with Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez set to take over for Steven S. DeKnight as showrunners. (DeKnight took over for initial showrunner Drew Goddard - who wrote the first two episodes and who exited to focus on Marvel's upcoming feature films).

DeKnight released a statement that read, "While previous commitments unfortunately prevent me from continuing on with Daredevil into its second season, I could not be happier that Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez are carrying the torch. They were invaluable collaborators during our first season, and I for one can't wait to see what they do with the show moving forward."

For Netflix, the renewal comes as all of its original scripted programs have gone on to secure second seasons. The series will also lead into forthcoming Marvel dramas A.K.A. Jessica Jones, Iron Fist and Luke Cage before they all will team up for the miniseries The Defenders.
