Syfy Cancels 'Helix' After 2 Seasons

This evening Syfy has opted to cancel its original drama series Helix after two seasons. The drama from Steven Maeda and Ron Moore wrapped its run earlier this month.






Helix had a solid series debut in January 2015 with 1.82 million viewers in Live+Same Day. The premiere then broke Syfy L+3 ratings by gaining 64% in the Adults 18-49 demographic and 53% in total viewers. However, it ratings dropped drastically in the second season, down 59% in total viewers and 62% in the demo from the Season 1 average.

The conspiracy drama centered on a team of CDC scientists battling various viral outbreaks that threatened to end mankind. The cast included Billy Campbell, Kyra Zagorsky, Mark Ghanimé, Hiroyuki Sanada, Jordan Hayes, Neil Napier, Meegwun Fairbrother and Matt Long.

Sony Pictures Television, Muse Entertainment, Lynda Obst Productions, Tall Ship Productions and Kaji Productions produced the drama for its two seasons.
