This morning TV Land announced a second season renewal for single camera comedy Younger. The new season will include 12 episodes, and will debut in 2016.
Younger follows Liza (Sutton Foster), a 40-year old woman who pretends to be 26 in order to get a job in the highly competitive world of publishing - and succeeds. Now working under the prickly Diana (Miriam Shor), Liza has to figure out how to balance her real life with best friend Maggie (Debi Mazar) and her "pretend" life with new friend and co-worker Kelsey (Hilary Duff)... all while embarking on an exciting and somewhat confusing relationship with sexy tattoo artist Josh (Nico Tortorella).
Created by Darren Star, Younger is TV Land's second single camera comedy series - and the first to make it to a second season. It has frequently been seen as the first step of TV Land's ambition to reinvent the network's original programming lineup from retro multi-cam comedies to edgier single camera fare.
"Younger is the first step in TV Land's evolution, and we are very proud to announce a second season," said Keith Cox, Executive Vice President, Development and Original Programming, TV Land. "We're thrilled to continue working with Darren, and really eager to see where he takes this story and our amazing cast next."
The fifth episode of Younger's 12-episode first season debuts tonight at 10/9c., with the season finale set for Tuesday, June 9.
