Hulu Officially Renews 'The Mindy Project' for Super-Sized 4th Season

A week and a half after The Mindy Project's cancellation at FOX, the critically acclaimed comedy created by and starring Mindy Kaling has been picked up by Hulu for a 26-episode fourth season. A premiere date will be announced at a later date.

"I am thrilled The Mindy Project has found a new home on Hulu, where so many of our fans are already watching the show," said Kaling. "It's such an exciting place to be."

"Mindy has been a beloved member of the Hulu family, so this deal is a natural extension of our relationship," said Craig Erwich, Senior Vice President and Head of Content, Hulu. "With so many of her fans already catching up and tuning in to the series on Hulu, we know her millions of fans will be eager to find out what Mindy has in store for the next chapter."

The Mindy Project centers on Dr. Mindy Lahiri, a skilled OB/GYN navigating the tricky waters of both her personal and professional life.

The comedy also stars Chris Messina, Ed Weeks, Ike Barinholtz, Beth Grant and Xosha Roquemore. Universal Television and 3 Arts Entertainment produce, with Kaling, Howard Klein, Matt Warburton, Charlie Grandy and Michael Spiller as executive producers.

Hulu was a natural destination for the comedy as its already the exclusive streaming home of all past episodes of the series. It also comes as Hulu is rapidly expanding its original programming slate for the upcoming season. The fourth season of The Mindy Project will join limited series 11/22/63 starring James Franco; comedy Difficult People starring Billy Eichner & Julie Klausner; family drama The Way from Jason Katims; and comedy Casual starring Michaela Watkins & Tommy Dewey.
