NBC Cancels 'American Odyssey' After One Season

This evening NBC announced that its original drama series American Odyssey will not be returning for a second season. The season finale that aired on June 28 will serve as the show's final episode.

The expansive drama centered on three families who are torn apart when a stranded female soldier (Anna Friel), a disillusioned corporate attorney (Peter Facinelli) and a disrespected political activist (Jake Robinson) are pulled into the same shocking international military conspiracy.

The cast also included Jim True-Frost, Treat Williams, Nate Mooney, Elena Kampouris, Daniella Pineda, Sadie Sink, Omar Ghazaoui and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.

Adam Armus and Kay Foster created the series, and executive produced alongside Peter Horton, Henrik Bastin, Mikkel Bondesen, Kristen Campo, Simon Maxwell and David Waco. Horton also directed the pilot. Universal Television produced.

The series had largely mixed reviews and opened to only 5.37 million total viewers and a 1.1 rating in the Adults 18-49 demographic. The numbers quickly dropped, with the finale only totaling 2.20 million viewers and a 0.4 rating.
