Syfy Acquires Drama 'Wynonna Earp' Starring Melanie Scrofano, Tim Rozon and Shamier Anderson

Syfy has officially acquired the 13-episode Canadian drama series Wynonna Earp based on the graphic novel by IDW Publishing of the same name.

Described as Justified meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the drama is a modern supernatural Western that focuses on Wynonna, the great, great granddaughter of famous lawman Wyatt who inherits his near mythic abilities - as well as his gun - destined to battle Wyatt's legendary old West enemies - Demons who rise from hell, again and again.

Melanie Scrofano (The Listener, Gangland Undercover) will star as Wynonna. Tim Rozon (Instant Star, Schitt's Creek) will play legendary con artist Doc Holliday, and Shamier Anderson (The Next Step) will play the mysterious Agent Dolls.

The drama will begin production in Calgary, Alberta in September. Emily Andras will serve as showrunner. Executive producers include Andras, Jordy Randall and Tom Cox. Paolo Barzman will direct the premiere episode.
