TNT Renews 'Rizzoli & Isles' for Season 7

TNT has handed a seventh season renewal to hit procedural Rizzoli & Isles. The season will consist of 13 episodes and will debut in Summer 2016.

The early renewal for the drama starring Angie Harmon and Sasha Alexander comes as its most recent episode drew 6.3 million total viewers in Live+3 viewing. That's the highest number for any cable show airing at the moment.

A 13-episode order for the seventh season is down from Season 6's series-high total of 18 and is the show's lowest number of episodes for a season since Season 1 - which only included 10. Despite that though, there are no talks about Season 7 being the last for the veteran drama.

Jan Nash, who took over as showrunner after series creator Janet Tamaro departed at the end of Season 5, will return for Season 7.

The cast for the drama also includes Jordan Bridges, Bruce McGill, Lorraine Bracco and Idara Victor.
