A&E, HISTORY and LIFETIME's ROOTS
  • British actor Malachi Kirby (EastEnders) has been cast in the lead role of Kunta Kinte in the upcoming remake of the hit miniseries. The series follows Kinte's capture from his homeland in Gambia and sold into slavery in America, along the way witnessing the American Revolution and the Civil War.
ABC's DR. KEN
  • Stand-up comedian Margaret Cho (Drop Dead Diva) has booked a guest spot on an upcoming episode of the new comedy starring Ken Jeong. She will play Dr. Wendi, Ken's (Jeong) wildly successful sister, a famous TV doctor with a big, energetic personality.
FXX's YOU'RE THE WORST
  • David Schaal, Jayme Entwistle, Jessica Chaffin and Katie Costick will play members of Jimmy's (Chris Geere) family in an upcoming episode of the comedy's second season. Schaal will play his father, Ronny. Entwistle, Chaffin and Costick will his three sisters, Fiona, Di and Lilly.
CBS' LIFE IN PIECES
  • Ken Marino (Party Down, Marry Me) will appear on an upcoming episode of the new comedy series. He will play Will, Matt's (Thomas Sadoski) inappropriate co-worker who is always making crude jokes about the ladies in the office and getting a little too involved in everyone's personal business.
FOX's THE GUIDE TO SURVIVING LIFE
  • Parker Young (Enlisted) and Lyndon Smith (Public Morals) have booked guest roles on the upcoming comedy starring Jack Cutmore-Scott. Young will play Shane, an extremely competitive young guy who meets Kelly (Meaghan Rath) at the gym and they immediately hit it off. Smith will play Lena, one of Cooper's (Cutmore-Smith) ex-girlfriends who holds an art exhibit that includes a very embarrassing photo of him.
ABC's AMERICAN CRIME
  • Shameless star Emily Bergl has landed a recurring role on the drama's upcoming second season. She will play Lillah Tanner, the mother of one of the basketball players (Joey Pollari) whose family becomes embroiled in the fallout of the alleged sexual assault.
NETFLIX's FLAKED
  • Singer-actor Travis Mills has booked a recurring role on the upcoming comedy starring Will Arnett. He will play Stefan, the owner of the local coffee shop who is on the more absurd end of the hipster spectrum.
FOX's EMPIRE
  • After recurring throughout the first season, Serayah has been upped to series regular for the drama's upcoming second season. She plays Tiana, an R&B singer signed to Empire Entertainment who is managed by Cookie (Taraji P. Henson).
