SHOWTIME's I'M DYING UP HERE
- The premium has given a pilot order to drama I'm Dying Up Here written by Dave Flebotte and to be directed by Jonathan Levine. Additional executive producers include Jim Carrey, Michael Aguilar and Christina Wayen. Endemol Shine Studios and Assembly Entertainment will produce. Set in the celebrated and infamous stand-up comedy scene of 1970s Los Angeles, the dark comedy will delve into the inspired and damaged psyches that inhabit the hilarious but complex business of making an audience laugh. The pilot is based on the nonfiction novel by William Knoedelseder.
SHOWTIME's UNTITLED LENA WAITHE PROJECT
- The network has also handed out a pilot order to an untitled project written by Lena Waithe. Additional executive producers include Common, Aaron Kaplan and Clark Johnson, the latter of whom will direct. Fox 21 Television Studios and Kapital Entertainment will produce.The project is described as a relevant, timely and distinctive coming-of-age story of a young African-American male in which just growing up can be a matter of life and death.
E!'s THE ARRANGEMENT
- Alias alum Michael Vartan has joined the cast of the drama pilot starring Josh Henderson. He will play play Terence Hoffman, Kyle West's (Henderson) producing partner, best friend and mentor. His influence on Kyle's life is pervasive and when Megan enters the scene, Terence becomes particularly invested in assuring that The Arrangement goes as planned.
