Syfy Cancels 'Defiance' After 3 Seasons

Syfy has decided to cancel its original drama series Defiance after three season, it was announced today. The series aired its final episode on August 28, 2015. It had produced 38 episodes. It's final season only averaged 1.12 total million viewers.





"Defiance was a truly groundbreaking series, delivering an immersive, cross-platform experience that transcended the television screen in a way that viewers had never seen before," the network said in a statement. "We are incredibly proud of the work of the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers - and especially showrunner Kevin Murphy - who together brought the rich world of Defiance to life over its three season arc."

The cast over the three seasons included Grant Bowler, Julie Benz, Stephanie Leonidas, Tony Curran, Jaime Murray, Graham Greene, Mia Kirshner, Jesse Rath, James Murray, Anna Hopkins, Nichole Galicia, Dewshane Williams and Trenna Keating.

The series was developed by Kevin Murphy, Rockne S. O'Bannon and Michael Taylor, all of whom served as executive producers alongside Scott Stewart. Universal Cable Productions produced.

The decision to end Defiance comes just a few days after the network also cancelled Dominion after two seasons.
