Netflix Gives Series Order to Drama 'Mindhunter' from David Fincher and Charlize Theron

Netflix has given a series order to original drama series Mindhunter, its second drama series from House of Cards executive producer/director David Fincher. Production on the series is likely to begin sometime in 2016.

The drama is based on the book Mind Hunter: Inside the FBI's Elite Serial Crime Unit by John Douglas and Mark Olshanker. For years, former special agent Douglas pursued some of the most notorious serial killers and rapists, developing profiling techniques to catch them. The book goes behind the scenes of some of his highest-profile cases, including the man who hunted prostitutes in Alaska, the Atlanta child murderer, and Seattle's Green River killer. To hone in his profiling methods Douglas interviewed and studied a skew of serial killers.

Joe Penhall (The Road, The Long Firm) will pen the premiere script, which Fincher is likely to direct for Netflix. Fincher and Penhall will executive produce alongside Oscar winner Charlize Theron through her Denver and Delilah production banner, which holds the rights to the book.
