Netflix Renews 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' for Season 3

Netflix started its panel for the second season of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt at the Television Critics Association's winter press tour with the news that the comedy has already been renewed for a third season.

Early today, it was announced that the comedy will return for its 13-episode second season on Friday, April 15.

The comedy stars Ellie Kemper, Tituss Burgess, Carol Kane and Jane Krakowski.

The comedy created by Tina Fey and Robert Carlock centers on a woman (Kemper) who escapes from an underground bunker for the first time in 15 years and moves to New York City.

The series was original developed at NBC and was moved to Netflix after the entire first season had been produced. Netflix picked up the series by ordering a second season.

The first season was nominated for 7 Primetime Emmy Awards - including Best Comedy Series, Best Supporting Actor (Burgess), Best Supporting Actress (Krakowski), Best Guest Actress (Tina Fey) and Best Guest Actor (Jon Hamm).
