Casting News - Kelly Overton Books Lead Role on 'Van Helsing'; Djimon Hounsou Joins 'Wayward Pines'; Plus 3 More Updates!

FOX's Wayward Pines; History's Six; MTV's Faking It; Showtime's Ray Donovan; and Syfy's Van Helsing.





SYFY's VAN HELSING
  • Kelly Overton (True Blood) has booked the lead role on the upcoming drama series. Also joining the cast today are Jonathan Scarfe, Christopher Heyerdahl, Paul Johansson, David Cubitt and Tim Guinee. Overton will play Vanessa Helsing, who after being resurrected five years in the future, learns that vampires have taken over the world and that she possesses unique power over them. Scarfe will play Axel, a career Marine with unwavering devotion and loyalty to both duty and his wards despite years of isolation and endless vampire attacks. Heyerdahl will play Sam, a survivor who relies on his strength and observational skills to stay alive. Johansson will play Dimitri, a vampire turned before the Rising and is now the patient and calculating leader of the vampires. Cubitt will play John, another survivor whose actions are fueled by anger, prejudice, suspicion and fear. Guinee will play Flesh, a vampire foot soldier who does battle with Vanessa and conceals a tragic past.
MTV's FAKING IT
  • Newcomer Elliot Fletcher has landed a recurring role on the comedy's upcoming third season. He will play Noah, a transgender character who is charismatic, confident, hip and equal parts charming and vulnerable. He is the boy next door with a leather jacket and a rock n' roll attitude who plays guitar for a band that competes in a battle of the bands contest.
FOX's WAYWARD PINES
  • Oscar-nominated actor Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond, In America) will co-star opposite Jason Patric on the upcoming second season of the hit drama. He will play CJ Mitchum, an original resident of Wayward Pines and a historian for the town with extensive knowledge of its complex origins who is the one person who can provide a unique bridge between the current world of Wayward Pines and the previous world that humans inhabited.
SHOWTIME's RAY DONOVAN
  • Lisa Bonet (The Cosby Show, The Red Road) has booked a major recurring role on the drama's upcoming fourth season. She will play Marisol, an unstable woman with a damaging secret.
HISTORY's SIX
  • True Blood alum Joe Manganiello has joined the cast of the upcoming drama series written by William and David Broyles. He will play Rip Taggart, once the squad leader of Seal Team Six and now working in Africa protecting a small village from Boko Haram.
