TBS Renews 'The Detour' for Season 2 Before Official Series Debut

Days before the comedy's official launch, TBS has ordered a 13-episode second season of its new original comedy series The Detour. The new season will air in 2017. The first season begins on Monday, April 11 at 9/8c.

The Detour is an often too honest look at the family dynamic and the chaos that can erupt from not being honest with the ones we love - all from the Parker family hitting the road on a family vacation.

The comedy stars Jason Jones, Natalie Zea, Ashley Gerasimovich and Liam Carroll.

Jones and Samantha Bee created the series. They executive produce with Brennan Shroff and Tony Hernandez.

"I'm very excited to be going back to making my favorite show not yet on TV and look forward to making outrageous demands in my rider for the second season," said Jones.

"Jason and Sam's vision and execution of the first season was original and unexpected at every ridiculous turn," said Brett Weitz, Executive Vice President of Original Programming, TBS. "Having Jason as executive producer, director and star really brought a definition to he voice of the characters and a realism to this family."

Millions of viewers have already sampled the show with sneak preview telecasts following TBS' coverage of the NCAA Men's College Basketball Tournament. Starting today, TBS will make the premiere available to stream on The Detour Facebook page, TBS' YouTube channel, TBS.com, TBS On Demand and the Watch TBS mobile app.
