Casting News - 'Crazy Ex-Girlfriend' Ups Gabrielle Ruiz to Regular; 'Being Mary Jane' Finds New Showrunner; Plus 2 More Updates!

THE CW's CRAZY EX-GIRLFRIEND
  • After appearing in most of the first season, Gabrielle Ruiz has been promoted to series regular for the comedy's upcoming second season. She plays Valencia, Josh's (Vincent Rodriguez III) girlfriend. For most of the year, she was a thorn in Rebecca's (Rachel Bloom) side as she tried to get back together with Josh. However, Josh broke up with her in the first season finale.
BET's BEING MARY JANE
  • Erica Shelton Kodish (The Good Wife) has been tapped to replace Mara Brock and Salim Akil as showrunner for the drama's upcoming fourth season. Will Packer (Roots, Think Like a Man) has also boarded the new season as an executive producer. The Akil duo created the drama but departed as showrunners for a production deal at Warner Bros. They remain executive producers though.
BBC AMERICA's BROADCHURCH
  • Lenny Henry (The Syndicate) and Roy Hudd (Coronation Street) have joined the cast of the drama's upcoming third and final season. No details were immediately released about the characters they will be playing.
THE CW's IZOMBIE
  • After recurring throughout the first two seasons, Aly Michalka has been promoted to series regular for the drama's upcoming third season. She plays Peyton Charles, Liv's (Rose McIver) best friend and roommate, an Assistant District Attorney for the Seattle justice department, and who has been in romantic relationships with both Ravi (Rahul Kohli) and Blaine (David Anders).
