Hulu Renews 'The Path' and 'The Mindy Project'; Sets 'Shut Eye' and 'Chance' Premiere Dates

During its upfront presentation in New York this morning, Hulu has announced a second season renewal for original drama The Path and a fifth season order for comedy The Mindy Project.

The Path centers on a family living in a controversial faith-based movement as they struggle with relationships, faith and power. The seventh episode of the first season was released today. The season finale airs May 25.

The drama stars Aaron Paul, Michelle Monaghan, Emma Greenwell, Rockmond Dunbar, Kyle Allen, Amy Forsyth, Sarah Jones and Hugh Dancy.

Jessica Goldberg created the drama and executive produces with Jason Katims and Michelle Lee. Universal Television and True Jack Productions produce.

The Mindy Project follows a skilled OB/GYN as she navigates choppy waters in both her personal and professional life. The seventeenth episode of its fourth season was released yesterday. Its season finale is slated for July 5. An episode order for the fifth season has not been confirmed yet.

The comedy stars Mindy Kaling, Chris Messina, Ed Weeks, Ike Barinholtz, Beth Grant, Xosha Roquemore and Fortune Feimster.

Kaling created the comedy and executive produces with Howard Klein, Matt Warburton, Charlie Grandy and Michael Spiller. Universal Television and 3 Arts Entertainment.

The online streaming service has also used its upfront presentation to order a second election special from Triumph the Insult Comic Dog to debut later this year - and presumably focus on the general election.

And finally, premiere dates have been set for two new upcoming drama series. Shut Eye starring Jeffrey Donovan and KaDee Strickland will premiere on Wednesday, August 31. Chance starring Hugh Laurie, Gretchen Mol and Paul Adelstein (which has already been renewed for Season 2) will debut on Wednesday, October 19.
