AMC Renews 'Preacher' for Season 2

AMC has renewed its original drama series Preacher based on the comic book series of the same name for a second season, it was announced today. The new season will include 13 episodes - up 3 from the first season's total. Season 2 will debut in 2017.





Preacher is a supernatural and darkly comedic drama that follows a Texas preacher named Jesse Custer who is inhabited by a mysterious entity called Genesis that gives him the power to make people do whatever he commands. Once this power attracts the attention of two mysterious angels, Jesse, his badass ex-girlfriend Tulip and an Irish vampire named Cassidy are thrust into a crazy world populated by a cast of characters from Heaven, Hell and everywhere in between.

The drama stars Dominic Cooper, Joseph Gilgun, Ruth Negga, Lucy Griffiths, W. Earl Brown, Anatol Yusef, Tom Brooke, Derek Wilson and Ian Colletti.

In its first season so far, Preacher is averaging 3.3 million total viewers, including 1.9 million Adults 25-54, in Live+3 ratings.

Sam Catlin, Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg developed the drama. They executive produce with James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Ori Marmur, Vivian Cannon, Jason Netter and Ken F. Levin. Garth Ennis, Steve Dillon, Mark McNair, Michael Slovis and Sara Goodman are co-executive producers. Sony Pictures Television, AMC Studios, Point Grey Pictures and Original Film produce.
