Emmy Predictions 2016 - Which Shows Will Likely Get Nominated for Limited Series?

From June 13 to June 27, voting took place for The 68th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. To add to the excitement of the past year in television, I'm providing analysis on which shows and performers are likely to get nominated this year. Next up is Limited Series.

2015 Nominees:
        ABC's American Crime
FX's American Horror Story: Freak Show (FX)
        SundanceTV's The Honorable Woman
        HBO's Olive Kitteridge (WINNER)
        PBS' Wolf Hall

Despite being called the limited series category, there are several past nominees that are once again eligible this year. ABC's American Crime, FX's American Horror Story and FX's Fargo all had new seasons that focused on new stories and characters. Fargo won the last time it was nominated. American Horror Story has always racked up a ton of nominations despite not being the most acclaimed series on this list. But you know, there were some really terrific limited series this year. It was only a couple of years ago when the demand for this brand of storytelling wasn't high. And now, this race is the most exciting one of the night. Limited series were much more captivating than dramas or comedies this year. The People v. O.J. Simpson was excellent and should pick up a high number of nominations. The Roots remake was quite strong. Fargo and American Crime followed up acclaimed first seasons with even stronger second ones. HBO's Show Me a Hero, Hulu's 11.22.63 and AMC's The Night Manager were fantastic novel adaptations. All of these series were distinct and deserve nominations. Not all of them will unfortunately. So the race for this category is stronger than it has ever been before.

So now, here's my thoughts on the shows most likely to be nominated for Limited Series:
  1. FX's The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story
  2. FX's Fargo
  3. A&E, History and Lifetime's Roots
  4. ABC's American Crime
  5. FX's American Horror Story: Hotel
And now, for some serious threats that could break into the list:
  1. HBO's Show Me a Hero
  2. AMC's The Night Manager
  3. Hulu's 11.22.63
  4. Starz's The Girlfriend Experience
  5. SundanceTV's The Last Panthers
  6. BBC America's London Spy
  7. A&E, History and Lifetime's War & Peace
Some considerable long-shots:
  1. HBO's True Detective
  2. Starz's Flesh and Bone
  3. Spike's Tut
  4. ABC's Madoff
  5. National Geographic's Saints & Strangers
  6. Amazon's Mad Dogs
And now, just some colorful oddities who still have an outside chance:
  1. Syfy's Childhood's End
  2. Netflix's River
  3. Amazon's Doctor Thorne
  4. Comedy Central's Time Traveling Bong
  5. IFC's The Spoils Before Dying
  6. NBC's Heroes Reborn
