Amazon Picks Up Drama 'The Last Tycoon' to Series

Amazon has given a series order to drama The Last Tycoon starring Matt Bomer and Kelsey Grammer, it was announced today. The first season will debut on the streaming service in 2017.






Based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's final unfinished novel, the drama revolves around Monroe Stahr (Bomer), Hollywood's first high-profile studio executive in the 1930s as he climbs to the height of power pitting him against his mentor and current head of the studio, the brawny, imposing, charming and vain Pat Brady (Grammer).

The cast also includes Rosemaire DeWitt, Lily Collins, Mark O'Brien, Enzo Cilenti, Dominique McElligott, Jessica de Gouw, Kerry O'Malley, Annika Marks and Ryan O'Nan.

Billy Ray wrote and directed the pilot. He will serve as co-showrunner with Chris Keyser. They executive produce with Perri Kipperman, Josh Maurer, David Stern and Alix Witlin. Amazon Studios, Sony Pictures Television and TriStar Television produce.
