Pop Gives Series Order to 'The Joey Mac Project'; Reveals Premiere Date for 'Nightcap'

Pop is the next cable network to make its programming announcements from the Television Critics Association's summer press tour. The network has announced a November premiere date for its next scripted comedy series Nightcap and has given a series order to comedy The Joey Mac Project starring Joey McIntyre.

Created by and starring Ali Wentwork, original comedy series Nightcap will premiere on Wednesday, November 16 at 8/7c.

Nightcap is a laugh at itself, satirical look at the late night landscape set behind-the-scenes of a fictitious show Nightcap with Jimmy where every week, A-list celebrities stop by as they would on any real-life talk show - only this time, viewers get an exaggerated look at the hilarity backstage.

Guest stars in the first season include Gwyneth Paltrow, Sarah Jessica Parker, Paul Rudd, Kelly Ripa, Debra Messing, Whoopi Goldberg, George Stephanopoulos, Denis Leary, Michael J. Fox, Mario Batali, Wendy Williams, Nate Berkus, Jason Biggs, Andy Cohen, Mark Cuban, Mark Consuelos, Jim Gaffigan, Janeane Garofalo, GiGi Gorgeous, Tim Gunn, Mariska Hargitay, Stephanie March, Jim Norton, Rosie Perez, Joel Schumacher and Beth Stern.

Executive producers are Wentworth, Tom Brunelle, Brad Wollack, Troy Miller, Lydia Tenaglia, Chris Collins and Craig Shepherd. Lionsgate Television, Dakota Pictures, Trout the Dog Productions, Free 90 Media and Zero Point Zero Productions produce.

Inspired by Joey McIntyre's real life, The Joey Mac Project stars McIntyre as a version of himself. A grown-up boy band member and actor who is seeking his next showbiz gig after New Kids on the Block's latest sold tour.

The comedy series will go into production this fall for a premiere in 2017. The first season will include 8 episodes.

Executive producers are Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, Jenny McCarthy, Jenny Daly, Paul Greenberg and Tim Gibbons. T Group Productions produces.
