Showtime Renews 'Dice' for Season 2

Showtime has renewed its original comedy series Dice for a second season, it was announced today. The show will return for a 7-episode season sometime in 2017.

Dice stars Andrew Dice Clay as an unemployed comic struggling in the Las Vegas suburbs to be a loving father, a devoted boyfriend and a professional gambler who is stuck dealing with the effects of his outrageous brand of fame.

Guest stars in the first season included Natasha Leggero, Kevin Corrigan, Lorraine Bracco, Adrien Brody, Michael Rapaport, Wayne Newton, Criss Angel and Rita Rudner.

Scot Armstrong created the series. He serves as executive produce with Clay, Sean Furst, Bryan Furst, Bruce Rubenstein, Brian Gatewood and Alessandro Tanaka. Fox 21 Television Studios produces in association with Showtime.

The renewal today is a tad surprising given the six-episode first season was the lowest rated series on Showtime this year, averaging just 191,000 total viewers. The series also marked the first time Showtime released an entire season at once on SVOD during the premiere weekend.
