USA Renews 'Queen of the South' for Season 2

USA has renewed its original drama series Queen of the South for a second season, it was announced today. The drama will return sometime in 2017. However, Season 2 will see a new showrunner with Natalie Chaidez (12 Monkeys) taking over for Scott Rosenbaum (Gang Related). 





The drama centers on Teresa Mendoza who goes on he run after her drug-dealing boyfriend is murdered. She seeks refuge in America as she plot her revenge.

The drama stars Alice Braga, Veronica Falcon, Peter Gadiot, Justina Hachado, Hemky Madera, James Martinez and Joaquim de Almeida.

M.A. Fortin and Joshua John Miller created the series. They will executive produce the second season with Chaidez, David T. Friendly and Pancho Mansfield. Universal Cable Productions and Fox 21 Television Studios produce.

Eleven episodes into its first season, the drama is currently averaging 2.26 million total viewers in the most recent Live+7 numbers. The season finale airs Thursday, September 15.
