After hitting the marketplace in August, Amazon has landed an untitled drama series created by David O. Russell (Silver Linings Playbook) and starring Oscar winners Robert De Niro (Raging Bull) and Julianne Moore (Still Alice).
Insiders have told multiple media outlets that Amazon has committed to a two-season order with eight episodes each. Details about the actual plot are being kept under wraps but it's said to be a mafia drama.
Russell is set to write and direct each episode. He will also executive produce with Harvey Weinstein, David Glasser, Scott Lambert, Alexandra Milchan and Megan Ellison. The Weinstein Company and Annapurna Pictures will produce.
The commitment from Amazon is rumored to be $160 million for the two seasons.
